Shaquille O'Neal reacts to WNBA criticism of Angel Reese

While the Chicago Sky forward continues to face criticism for her offensive shortcomings, NBA icon Shaquille O'Neal has vehemently supported Angel Reese.

Expectations were high for Reese's sophomore season as she and Caitlin Clark shared the Rookie of the Year award before sustaining a wrist injury. However, the 23-year-old, who was enmeshed in a racist incident, is having difficulties, especially in terms of offensiveness.

Right now, Reese leads the WNBA with 12.3 rebounds per game and averages 10.0 points. She is only shooting 31.1 percent from the field, though, which is a terrible percentage for a player of her caliber and significance.

Despite the harsh criticism she has received, Reese is still a talented athlete. She has the skills to become the greatest rebounder in league history during her amazing WNBA debut, and her hustle, motor, and dominance on the boards are qualities that cannot be taught.

Reese now receives mentoring from O'Neal, who dominated the glass in a similar manner during his storied career. O'Neal is certain she will rise above the commotion to demonstrate her greatness, and the two have ties to LSU.

Reviews of Reese's performances thus far this season have been conflicting. She has not scored more than 14 points in 2025, despite hitting double figures in four of the six games she has played for the 2-4 Sky.

So far, the Sky is having trouble. With two consecutive victories over the 1-5 Dallas Wings of Paige Bueckers, Chicago is within one game and a half away from finishing last.
